A man who is a janitor at the mall he is one of the nicest people I have ever met. For example, one day when I missed placed my keys & he started searching on the trash cans without me even suggesting it. anyways... the other night after getting home from the mall he couldn't sleep, so he went for a walk. He walked down to stewarts - where two men beat him so bad that he is now in Burlington where he is going to be needed reconstruction surgery on his face. If theres anything in the paper about it ... I will throw the link up- This all just broke my heart.

Lack of posts.....

Lately my number of post have been decreased, who have I been kidding they've been non-existing. I've been paying attention to our local news, and its just scary lately. I dont know if I'm trying to hide my head in the sand (which I know is a horrible thing) or what I've been doing. But I would like to know what has happened to the north country. I'm aware that its never had the highest quality of people, but on the same hand when my dad was growing, they sold eggs on the honor system in that people would put money in jug for the eggs in which they were taking, and grandpa only has one story in which someone was dishonest. As I sit on my front porch, just up the road from my grandparents, I'm watching men who are on disability because they cant lift, have truck loads of what can reasonably assumed as stolen goods, others full of drugs drive by, with young girls in the front seat.

I cant imagine this happening, I'm over twice her age and I dont think I could have handled this. Any of you that know me it would have been peanut butter cups and mountain dew instead of poptarts and gatoraid. But the thought of my father laying dead in the seat next to me, strapped upside down for days, with temperatures below 30. This little girl will be in my thoughts this holiday season.

I'm so sick of hearing about how somebody got off of a CRIMINAL charge because they are who they are... quite frankly drinking and driving is illegal for a reason! It shouldn't matter if you're the president of the United States, someone with a badge, or Joe-blow who likes paps in can!

Bartending for so many years I've seen some people make really dumb choices. One night one of my favorite regulars had more than he should of and I asked:
'Hunny, how are you getting home"
he replies, "I'm Driving"
"But you cant even stand there babe"
"Thats why there's a seat I dont need to stand"
of course it sounds a little funny now, but its scary that, in that people think that way...

Annoyance of the day:

I went to by drain-o yesterday and they wouldn't sell it to me because i didn't have my ID. Most of the time I'm not even ID for the purchase of alcohol, but I am for drain-o? I wouldn't know what to use drain-o for anything but clearing the drain. I started to laugh at the clerk, and said if I was going to huff it or whatever reason you'd get ID for it ... the normal person would be the off brand

Snooping around Walmart

Yesterday I was in walmart and this four year old was playing with the nail polish. When her mother realized what she was doing, she pulled her away, despite the massive amounts of tears. The mother handed her child to what appeared to be her mother. Then what I thought was the grandmother set the child down in front of the nail polish to stop the child from crying, and says "she's not hurting anything" as the child drops the nail polish causing it to crashed; "not hurting anything huh?"  After wondering around, I ran back into the same tri-generation trio. The woman introduced what I thought was her mother as her mother in-law to another customer.

Where do grandparents cross the line, yes obviously the daughter in-law thought that she raised a decent son other wise she wouldn't have married him. But still she made the decision to remove HER daughter from the nail polish, and the mother in-law made an over ride decision.

Italian Jail for 4 years....

Did Amanda Knox actually commit this horrific crime? I have no idea, but she is a year older than I am. I can't imagine living in an out of country jail for almost four years.

Salary vs Commission

I'm sitting here watching the Bruins hockey game, and all I could think of is how much money athletes make. So what I was thinking... Many sales people (lets face is Athletes are  selling their talent) work on commission - why cant these people - lets put aside their Million Dollar contracts and if their organization makes crappy money, due to their team being dreadful - they dont get paid that well... makes sense to me

Handing over Passwords for a job

This really annoys me!

I feel that facebook and twitter, can be a distraction at work or school( not GMMD students of course) & could possibly be band from campuses or the work environment.  Or that "professionals" such as teachers and other people who are expect to be lets say the highlight of society should keep their profiles in a proper contact. And I get that their should be some information about a company that doesnt need to be broadcasted on Social Media.

The question that I ask; where does "monitoring" ones social media become an invasion of property? This article brought up some great points, that their is a parts of facebook that is mail, and its illegal to open another persons paper mail. With today's youth having to leave their home areas to find jobs, Facebook is often used to keep in contact with family.

As far as what ones "friends" post about then; well quite frankly thats not always under ones controlled. For example: someone (lets say a high school teacher, who is in her mid 20s) may be letting off some steam at a bar one night with her friends, and a friend of a friend of a friend uploads a picture of her in the background and in the progress she becomes tagged in it. She has her privacy setting so that nobody but her can view that photo, but if she has to passed along that password - her bosses can see that.

Underage Drinking

Something even the best people are guilty of!

As many of you are aware of I was a bartender for 6 years, I always hated when people huffed and puffed when I asked for their IDs - there is a reason that has nothing to do with if I like them or not.

While I was serving and under the age of 21 (which is legal), and "kids" that graduated high school after me, and tried to pass of a fake ID; REALLY how stupid do you think I am!?!? We had >500 students in our school.

A minors night of fun could have serious repercussions for the one they tried to pull a fast one on. The bartender could get Endangering the welfare of a minor; and in some causes the bartender could loose custody of their own children. Which gets me on my own rant, if the bartender serves someone with a fake ID (as long as it looks legitimate) should they really be the one  who is in the wrong?! The individual came into the bar with the intent to commit a crime!!!

Air Canada Strike

I heard this story as I was driving into school this morning;  the broadcasters assumed the C word was the  "profanity when describing the federal mediator."

What Im wondering when is it okay for journalist to use terms that can be offensive? Even hinting around saying the word by using acronyms such as "the C-word" or "C U Next Tuesday?"

As of right now the term isn't being released. However this makes me wonder, if it is the C-Word compared to something else? Not saying the situation is okay if another word was used, but is the story getting more attention because the possibility of the offensive wording.

Where has the work ethic gone? I feel like so many people call in sick to work, with the monday blues. Tonight I felt horrible; but I put a smile on my face, took some day-quill and got on with my day. I'm not saying that Im prefect (far from it according to my boyfriend) but come on people, there is a job to be done. If you dont like your job find another one. I love my job, I cant imagine my life not working there.

Campus Merger

Personally I'm not in favor of the merging of SUNY Potsdam and SUNY Canton. Yes the schools are just within a few miles of each other, and yes the schools are both apart of the SUNY system; however the similarities stop there. Potsdam is a liberal arts school, which excels in the music, and teaching. Canton on the other hand, I dont think there are any music classes on campus, and our teaching program is only a two year program. Trying to get into Potsdams early childhood ed after graduating from the Canton's basically sets you back as a freshman. So how are we going to make this one campus when its a night mare to have classes transfer from one campus to the other. Can they promise that it will be easier to transfer?
Canton attracts a student of a different nature than Potsdam, I find that most of Cantons students learn better hands on, which is why one would choose to attend a technical school.
